BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT First name, surname: Klára Výtisková Supervisor: Ing. Eva Kejhová Title: New Approaches in Physiotherapy of Patients with Bronchial Asthma Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the physiotherapeutic influence of bronchial asthma and methods of physiotherapy, which are currently the most applied in the treatment of asthma. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes bronchial asthma, its diagnosis, classification, clinical manifestation of the disease, pharmacological treatment and methods of physiotherapy, which are currently the most modern and most used in the treatment of asthma bronchiale. This section is the key part of my bachelor thesis. The contents of the therapies of the practical part are based on the knowledge from this chapter. The practical part includes case reports of two patients. The target group were patients aged 20-30 years with diagnosed bronchial asthma, which is currently in a stable state, and in whom there is no regular application of bronchodilators. Each patient underwent a ten - week physiotherapy intervention. Respiratory amplitude measurements and spirometry were used to objectively assess the results of the intervention. The therapies were also evaluated subjectively by the patients, focusing on the...
Využití respirační fyzioterapie u pacientů po prodělání onemocnění Covid-19
BÍLKOVÁ, Klára
Covid-19 disease is caused by a new type of coronavirus, technically called SARS-CoV-2, which had not been identified in humans before December 2019. It is a droplet- and aerosolborne infectious disease mainly affecting the nasopharynx and lungs. Nowadays, numerous people suffer from the after-effects of having contracted Covid-19, the so-called post-covid syndrome. This is a set of different symptoms that can provide in essence the whole body. The most common complaints include shortness of breath and a persistent cough, deconditioning, headaches, back and chest pain to varying degrees, weakness and fatigue, as well as psychological problems such as anxiety and depression, concentration disorders and insomnia. From a physiotherapy perspective, these symptoms can be modified to varying degrees. For example, directly respiratory difficulties - influencing lung function, respiratory muscles, restoring the correct breathing stereotype. However, we can also influence posturalarticular functions and posture. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to describe the most common health problems of patients after Covid-19 infection and to suggest appropriate physiotherapy approaches for the identified difficulties. In particular, the thesis focuses on breathing difficulties and the possibility of influencing them with respiratory physiotherapy techniques. A qualitative research strategy was chosen, the research population consisted of five adult patients, and during the course of the research the number was reduced to four probands. The condition for inclusion in the research was a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection, after which patients continued to experience some persistent health problems. Physiotherapy interventions were targeted to optimize respiratory function using selected respiratory physiotherapy techniques. The results were processed by comparing the input and output kinesiological analysis, measuring inspiratory and expiratory mouth pressures using the MicroRPM device and measuring the patient's lung function using spirometry. Improvements were achieved in walking ability, postural-respiratory diaphragmatic function, chest mobility, respiratory pressure values and subjective perception of health status. Some improvement in lung function was also noted by spirometry.
Influence of respiratory rehabilitation on lung function in patients after COVID-19 pneumonia.
Světová, Barbora ; Benediktová, Květa (advisor) ; Irving, Anna (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the comparison of the measured values of selected spirometric parameters (FVC, FEV1, PEF) and the results of quality of life questionnaires (Karnofsky score and Jones shortbreathness score) in two groups, one of which had a prescribed rehabilitation program and the other was a control group. The theoretical part summarizes knowledge about the disease COVID-19 and its immediate and long-term impact, especially on the respiratory system. It also deals with the use of specific methods of respiratory rehabilitation in patients who have experienced the disease of COVID-19. The main goal of the practical part is to verify the effect of respiratory rehabilitation - a prescribed rehabilitation program on lung functions in patients after pneumonia caused by the disease COVID-19. Methodology: A total of 20 patients (average age 60±11,04 years) after pneumonia caused by the disease COVID-19 were included in the research, of which 10 followed the prescribed rehabilitation program. On the day of the end of hospitalization and a second time with an interval of 2-3 months, the spirometric parametres of the probands of both groups were measured and the quality of life was determined using questionnaires. The S-Index and chest amplitude were also measured in the experimental group...

Use of respiratory physiotherapy in freestyle swimming technique
PECHOVÁ, Karolína
The aim of this thesis is to describe the effect of respiratory physiotherapy in freestyle swimming technique, what effect respiratory physiotherapy has on the strength of inspiratory and expiratory muscles and what subjective changes occur when introducing respiratory physiotherapy into training. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes general information about the anatomy and physiology of respiration, respiratory mechanics, including the implementation of the optimal breathing pattern. Furthermore, the crawl swimming style and the main muscle groups that are needed for this style are described here. In the practical part, case reports of 4 probands who have been training regularly in the swimming section for several years are detailed. Oral pressures were measured using a MicroRPM instrument, which evaluates the strength of the inspiratory and expiratory muscles. It also includes the design of therapy, which focuses on respiratory techniques, but also on the mobility of the chest, shoulders and overall posture, including the involvement of a deep spinal stabilization system. The resulting effect of the therapy is positive, when there was an increase in the initial values of maximum oral pressures, but mainly to greater chest mobility, better involvement of the DSSS and better respiratory stereotype. An important result of the therapy is the subjective perception of probands.
Možnosti respirační fyzioterapie u dětí v předškolním věku
ŠKROVOVÁ, Jiřina
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of frequent respiratory diseases in preschool children and the possibilities of using respiratory physiotherapy techniques. Respiratory diseases are among the most common diseases in children. They include both trivial diseases and life-threatening conditions. Inflammatory diseases of the respiratory system are among the most common diseases in the Czech Republic. Patients usually have an acute course, but there is often chronicity. Respiratory physiotherapy is an important part of physiotherapy in patients with respiratory problems. Prolonged and repeated breathing difficulties have a negative effect on the psychomotor development and movement of the child. It is advisable to start respiratory physiotherapy as soon as possible, i.e., from an early age, in order to prevent chronicity and complications associated with it. The goal of respiratory physiotherapy is to achieve the most effective pulmonary ventilation and reduce bronchial secretion in the lungs. Home physics and parental cooperation are also very important in the physiotherapy of preschool children. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the anatomy of the chest and the physiology of the respiratory system. The most common respiratory diseases, the possibilities of using respiratory physiotherapy and other techniques to influence respiratory stereotype and posture are also described. Finally, a possible examination is briefly described. A qualitative research method has been used to process the practical part of the bachelor thesis. The research group consisted of three preschool children who suffer from frequent respiratory diseases. Two probands were recommended by a paediatrician and one on the recommendation of Master Bínová. The research took place in the supervisor's office. The research part of the thesis describes the goals, research methodology, the nature of the research group and includes detailed case studies of individual probands. After obtaining information from the initial examination, an individual exercise unit has been set up, which the probands were practicing at home. Due to the young age of the probands, the therapies have been set up in an entertaining way and according to the child's ability to concentrate.
Preoperative physiotherapy in patients with planned cardiac surgery
KRONESOVÁ, Karolína
The bachelor thesis investigates preoperative physiotherapy options for patients with upcoming cardiac surgery. The thesis examines physiotherapeutic options before the cardiac surgery, which aim to be beneficial in the postoperative phase. The first goal is to map physiotherapeutic methods available for patients with upcoming cardiac surgery. The second goal is to compile educational material for patients who are planning to undergo a cardiac operation. I formulate two following research questions to achieve these goals: 1. Which physiotherapeutic methods are available for patients with upcoming cardiac surgery? 2. What effect has the educational material for patients with upcoming cardiac surgery? The theoretical part focuses on the following areas: anatomy of thorax and heart, physiology of bloodstream and heart, and on respiratory system. The next topic is a description of basic concepts of cardiac surgery and physiotherapeutic methods, which we can use in cardiac rehabilitation. The practical part of the work is based on qualitative research - case studies of four probands with planned cardiac surgery. Before the surgery, the input examination was performed to set starting values. The output examination took place right before the patient's release to home care for final evaluation. Probands were found thanks to the department of cardiac and chest surgery in České Budějovice hospital. The research was held during proband's hospitalization, and the whole therapy process was monitored. Based on kinesiological analysis input and output, I evaluated the effect of preoperative physiotherapy as positive for three out of four probands. Proband 1 had a significant extension of maximal respiratory mouth pressures; her thorax increased its volume and duration of inhaling and exhale. Despite lowered expectations, Proband 2 improved her maximal inspiratory and expiratory mouth pressures. Chest volume of Proband 3 increased during measurements. Due to the health condition of Proband 4, I could not perform her output examination.
Physiotherapy treatment options in patients with unstable chest wall after cardiac surgery
KUBEŠOVÁ, Alžběta
This bachelor's thesis talks about complications after cardiac surgery, particularly unstable chest wall. The thesis describes what kind of complications occur in wound healing disorder and what kind of risk factors are connected to wound healing disorder. There are many precautionary measures that help to prevent the development of unwanted wound healing disorders. It is more than desired to treat patients with unstable chest wall using physiotherapy methods, as it shows the patient how to manage the wound, it helps with expectorating and increases the quality of life. The aim of the thesis is to describe physiotherapy treatment options and utilise them during the treatment sessions with patients. Theoretical part of my bachelor´s thesis is focused on sternotomy and it's healing, risk factors which represent higher possibility for development of postoperative complications and unstable chest wall. Thesis also talks about the current situation of postoperative complications and what are the possibilities of curing them. The text also talks about physiotherapy treatment options. The end of theoretical part describes different types of respiratory trainers. Some of them are therapeutical, some of them are diagnostic. It allows us to measure the strength of breathing muscles. The research part is carried out in the form of qualitative research, specifically as a case report method using two probanders with unstable chest walls after cardiac surgery conducted through median sternotomy. The patients were hospitalized in the cardiothoracic unit in Nemocnice České Budějovice, a.s. Each proband was thoroughly examined, a kinesiological analysis was carried out and physiotherapy treatment started. Each proband was treated for a different time period, because their sternotomy wound healed in different pace. The positive effect of the therapy and the resulting profits for patients with unstable chest walls was recognised because of measurement of chest development by tailoring meter, measurement of breath strength using MicroRPM and by subjective sensations of the probands.
